Our Statement:
We strongly
condemn any form of violence against anyone. Islam condemns all forms of
violence or terrorism. All creatures and mankind are one great family of
God. Islam teaches that all humans are one great family of God, regardless
of different religious beliefs, nationality or race. They should love and
protect each other. They should not hate, persecute, torture and kill each
other. All religions teach that human life is sacred. God is Kind and
Merciful and commands that we should also be kind and merciful to His
creatures. Anyone that claims to be a believer and worshiper of God, can not
be a true believer until he shows kindness to his fellow human beings and
His creatures. All seekers of God will surely find Him close to the
suffering hearts of the destitute.
All human beings,
according to Islam, have been created by one and the same God, and for this
reason they belong to one great brotherhood. All being descendants of the
same progenitor, Adam and Eve, they should naturally be each other’s
well-wishers. They must willingly come to one another’s assistance, like
members of the same large family. Islam has, therefore, laid the greatest of
emphasis on the support of destitute and disabled members of society. It is
a sacred duty of the wealthy to give part of their possessions to fulfill
the needs of the deprived sections of the community. Our work is to fulfill
the physical and spiritual needs of this section of the community. May Allah
accept our noble efforts, Ameen.
Introduction:
The Mehboob Memorial Centre, is a boys & girls Educational Institute and a Welfare Organisation.
The organisation was established in the year 1989 by the late Mr. Abdul
Hamid Alimahomed (May Allah Bless his soul) in memory of his late son
Mehboob (May Allah Bless his soul) who tragically passed away on the 17th
October, 1988 in a car
accident near the spot where the Centre is built. Sadly, since the demise of
Mr. Abdul Hamid in August 2008, the organisation suffered some temporary setbacks. Alhamdu-Lillah, the organisation is now back on the track to making
progress. The
Mehboob Memorial Centre has been under the supervision
and management of Moulana
(Sheikh) Riyaz Ahmed Muhammad Kareem
since 2001 and following some break in between, he again
took charge of management in February, 2012. He is based in Mangochi within
the compounds of the school.
Source of Funding:
The Mehboob Memorial Centre had faced a temporary setback due to lack of funds for a
temporary period until February, 2012 when Mr. Abdul Majid Alimahomed
(brother of the late Mr. Abdul Hamid Alimahomed)
and his family decided to revive and fund
the whole project by providing
funds for re-construction and running of the project. May Allah immensely reward him and his family for their great
sacrifices and contributions. During February, 2012 Mr.
Abdul Majid Alimahomed initiated major repair and re-construction work of the
depleted buildings under the supervision of Moulana Riyaz Ahmed who, as
mentioned above, is the
principal and administrator of the Mehboob Memorial Centre.
Mr. Abdul Majid Alimahomed (brother of the founder late
Mr. Abdul Hamid), is the sole benefactor of the Mehboob Memorial Centre.
He has so far contributed extensively for re-construction work and running
expenses. He intends to carry on doing so indefinitely. Mr. Abdul Majid Alimahomed
was born in Malawi and had lived there until he and his family emigrated
to the United Kingdom in the late 1970's.
It is because of his sense of moral obligation to do something beneficial
for the deprived people of his country of birth (Malawi) that motivated him
to fund the Mehboob Memorial Centre project.
Mr. Abdul Majid Alimahomed is currently based in the United Kingdom. He is a
Trustee of a U.K. registered charity called "Euro Charity Trust" which he
founded in the year 1996. The charity is solely funded by his family
business and by the family's personal income. May Allah reward and
grant him and his family good health and long
lives so that they can continue doing noble works. Ameen.
